Life is about Connecting

It began innocently enough on April 10 when a Mourning Dove laid what turned out to be 2 eggs in one of our hanging pots on the back porch.
Our first order of business was to give her a name, and so after a midnight flashback of Gilligan’s Island, she was appropriately named Lovie. The male was named Thurston, of course.
2 weeks later on Easter morning, we woke to the joy of 2 newborn Doves right outside our bedroom window.
Since Mourning Doves are also called Western Turtle Doves and Rain Doves, we named them: Turtle and Rain. Over the next 2 weeks we watched Lovie and Thurston take turns hovering over them to keep them warm, and feed them. They seemed to grow so fast.
On day 13 we watched as Turtle and Rain received flying lessons, and by day 14 it was time for them to fly away with their parents. We took one last picture as they sat side by side in the crepe myrtle in our back yard, and thought: what a pure joy these 4 weeks have been.
